“The Magna Carta?” Sebastian said, not sounding all that sure as he sent Haley a questioning look.

“No,” Haley mumbled weakly, looking like she was going to be sick.

“The Mayflower Compact?” Sebastian guessed, as Jason stood there watching his wife open her mouth to respond only nothing came out.

“That’s wrong, Sebastian, but good try,” Jason said with a sympathetic smile.

“Oh,” Sebastian said, as his shoulders slumped in defeat as he sent another worried glance in Haley’s direction and Jason couldn’t help but notice the panicked expression on her… Read More

The Coke Incident…

  • November 3, 2019

So, ummmm my Coke addiction finally caught up with me. Late last night, or early this morning however you want to view it, my delicious caffeine infused beverage of choice accidentally tipped over and went everywhere including all over my beautiful keyboard.

I cleaned up the mess, tipped the keyboard over and after it stopped dripping and I dried it off it seemed to still be working. So, I worked until 8 or 9 this morning, insomnia is my friend, and then finally crashed. When I got up, and is it really important what time I… Read More

“Why don’t we pick teams?” Haley suggested, but there was just something about the way she did it…

“Fine. You go first,” Jason said, as his gaze flickered from his wife who was up to something to Nicholas and Andrea, the best students in school, knowing that she was going to pick them first.

But that was fine, because he had a plan. He’d pick whichever one of them that she didn’t, then handpick the rest of his team, making sure that he picked the students with the best memories first. Once he had his team assembled, he’d focus his questions… Read More

Dear Reader…

Dear Reader,

It's hard to believe that after 7 years, Devastated will be here in two days. It's been one of the most difficult books that I've ever written and also one of the most enjoyable books as well. The book has my usual wit, sweetness, and lightheartedness that my other books have, but it also touches on a subject that many people have to deal with It’s been seven years in the making and has gone through a lot of changes, but finally, it’s here and I’m pretty happy with the way that it turned out and the… Read More

“What are you really doing here?” Jason demanded once they were in the hallway.

“I missed you,” Haley said, nodding her head solemnly as she pushed her glasses back up her nose and added, “So much.”

“And the cupcakes?” he asked as his eyes narrowed on the little liar.

“I was hungry.”

“So, you brought cupcakes for the whole class?” he asked, glancing over his shoulder to make sure that his class was staying out of trouble.

“It was the polite thing to… Read More

Teacher of the Year: Part I and A Chance to Win

“I just feel as though you could have put a little more effort in when you decided to cheat,” Jason said, wondering where he went wrong as he glanced up from the quiz that he’d given on the American Revolution to find the student that really should have known better, standing in front of him, looking at a loss for words.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” Adam, a kid who really should have known better, said as he did his best to try to appear innocent.

“Look,” Jason said, tossing the quiz back on his desk with a sigh,… Read More

Daddy’s Little Girl: Part IV

“Explain to me how this happened again,” Kasey said as Trevor, who was wondering what the hell was taking them so long, struggled to keep Mikey’s arm still.

“I don’t need stitches!” Mikey yelled, somewhat desperately as she continued to try to squirm her way free so that she could make another run for it.

“Yes, you do,” Sebastian said, sighing heavily as he shifted to get more comfortable from where he lay across her legs, trying to keep them pinned to the bed.

“We are no longer speaking, sir!” Mikey said with a… Read More

“There’s no reason to panic,” Mikey said and if she hadn’t said that as her legs gave out, he probably would have believed her.

“Oh, that can’t be good,” Cole said, rubbing his trembling hands down as his face as he stared down at Mikey while Jonathan, who’d decided to come help them after he’d spotted them walking to the baseball field on his way home, mumbled, “There’s so much blood.”

“I’m fine,” Mikey said, nodding to herself as Sebastian carefully lowered her to the ground.

“And all this blood?” Sebastian asked, looking paler by the second as Trevor knelt by her… Read More

“I don’t want to talk about it,” Elizabeth mumbled, staring down at the bag of gumdrops in her lap that told him everything that he needed to know.

“There’s nothing to talk about,” Jason said, sounding bored as he absently shifted Mikey over his shoulder.

“Good,” his baby girl said after a slight hesitation.

“Since I’m no longer needed here, I’d really like to go join the others for that lovely stroll around the baseball fields,” Mikey said, making his lips twitch as he stood up and extended his hand towards his baby girl.

“Let’s go,” he said, wiggling his fingers… Read More
