“Get in the tub, woman,” Trevor bit out as he angrily threw his shirt on the floor and toed off his boots with a glare that dared her to argue with him.
“But, I just wanted to take a nap by myself,” she said weakly as she worried her bottom lip and gestured towards the bedroom.
“Get. In,” he said evenly as he undid his fly and shoved his pants down, taking his boxers down with them as she stood there, reluctantly nodding.
“Okay,” she said, turning around as she struggled to bite back a smile.
“I’m the best fucking napper,” Trevor bit out while she took off her clothes, making sure to add a heartfelt sigh as she watched him step into the tub and with a glare, sat down and gestured for her to do the same.
After throwing one last wistful glance at the door, she reluctantly nodded, climbed into the tub, sat down between his legs, and leaned back against him as she bit back a satisfied sigh. When he wrapped his arms around her and pulled her even closer, she closed her eyes and-
“Here,” the man that she may have tricked into this, bit out as she felt something pressed against her lips.
She opened her eyes to find a chocolate strawberry held in front of her mouth. Smiling, she opened her mouth and took a bite, savoring the delicious treat as she closed her eyes and relaxed in his arms. A minute later, she felt his fingertips gently brushing along her arms and his lips pressing against her neck.
“Thirsty?” he asked softly.
“No,” she murmured, shaking her head as laid there, deciding that this was definitely the life.
There really was nothing better than lying in her husband’s arms and-
“Okay,” he said as she suddenly found herself picked up and placed on her feet.
Blinking, she watched as he climbed out of the tub, wrapped a towel around his waist, shoved one in her arms, and before she could make sense out of what was happening, found herself being pulled towards the bedroom. A few seconds later, she was standing there, dripping water on the floor and staring down at the nightgown that he’d shoved in her arms before looking up to find him throwing the top sheet on the bed.
“Bad at napping,” he muttered to himself. “I fucking rock at naps,” he said as he finished making the bed, which mostly consisted of him throwing the top sheet and comforter haphazardly across the bed.
When he was done, he grabbed her hand, gave it a yank that had her stumbling forward and landing on the bed with an Oomph! Before she could take her next breath, she found herself pulled into his arms, the blankets yanked up, and wondering where she’d gone wrong. The plan had been perfect, absolutely perfect, she’d picked out new sheets, bought a new nightie to entice him, the perfect treats for a bath, her favorite bath salts, and flowers. She’d also bribed Danny to snatch his wallet so that he would be forced to come back here so that they could have the perfect romantic night only to somehow end up like this.
“Trevor, I-” she started to say only to sigh when he reached up and put his hand over her mouth. “Shhhh, we’re sleeping.”
“But-” she started to mumble against his hand.
“Naptime,” he said, removing his hand so that he could wrap his arm around her and pulled her tightly against him so that she could barely move.
“Shhhhhh,” he said, nuzzling against the back of her neck while she laid there, resigning herself to nap and seriously wondering where she went wrong.
