Teacher of the Year
Part I
An R.L. Mathewson Chronicle
“I just feel as though you could have put a little more effort in when you decided to cheat,” Jason said, wondering where he went wrong as he glanced up from the quiz that he’d given on the American Revolution to find the student that really should have known better, standing in front of him, looking at a loss for words.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” Adam, a kid who really should have known better, said as he did his best to try to appear innocent.
“Look,” Jason said, tossing the quiz back on his desk with a sigh, “if you’re going to cheat in my classroom, then you might want to consider changing the answers into your own words.”
“But, I didn’t-”
“You copied every word off Stacy’s paper including her name,” Jason said, sighing heavily as he leaned back in his chair.
Nodding, Adam said, “I’m just gonna go sit down now and let my mom know that I have detention for a week,” as he held up his phone.
“Make it two weeks,” Jason said, looking over in time to see his wife walk into the room with Sebastian not far behind her, his arms loaded with two large bags from Dixen’s Bakery.
“Mrs. Bradford!” his students greeted her with huge smiles.
“Hey, guys,” Haley said with a warm smile, pushing her glasses back up her nose as Jason stood up and made his way over to her.
“What are you doing here?” he asked, pulling his wife, who was supposed to be at home resting, into his arms.
“I missed you,” Haley said, blinking innocently up at him.
Narrowing his eyes, Jason shifted his attention to his nephew. “Why is she here?”
“Because she missed you?” Sebastian said, matching Haley’s innocent expression as he placed the bags on his desk, helped himself to a book off Jason’s desk and took a seat by the window.
“I see,” Jason murmured, wondering what she was really up to as he watched her pull out several bakery boxes filled with cookies and brownies and handed them out to his class, who happily took them with smiles on their faces and-
She was definitely up to something.
So, for this book release I and doing something that I have never done for any other book, I am giving you a chance to get your hands on an advanced copy of Devastated. I was running a chance to do this on FB, but I believe that this would make it easier to select a winner. To ensure that the winners are people that actually want to read the book, I have two mandatory questions for this giveaway. They must be answered correctly to win.
(5) winners will be chosen and sent a copy of Devastated on the 21st of October.
Thank you and good luck!
I love your NFH series. I will buy your book to help support your career.
Even if i win an ARC of Devastated I still will keep my prepurchase order. Just greedy and want to read it now 😉
