Pregnancy Chronicles: Chapter 1
Dear Reader,
With Misunderstood set for release in December, I realized that we need to focus on Haley and Jason’s newest addition otherwise it will just be weird in the book when it jumps ahead by a year or two.
So, we’re going to have a little fun and watch how Jason and Haley deal with welcoming their next bundle of joy.

“No,” came the firm denial before Haley got a chance to make her case.
“Just hear me out,” she said, forced to crawl off the bed and chase after Jason when he walked into the bathroom. “What if–”
“Not happening,” the stubborn man that she loved for so me reason said firmly, cutting her off as he pulled his tie around his neck.
“You don’t even know what I was going to say,” Haley pointed out with a stubborn tilt of her head as she absently reached up and pushed her glasses back up her nose before she crossed her arms over her chest so that she could properly glare at her husband.
“Then you weren’t going to suggest coming back to work?” Jason asked, shooting her a knowing look in the mirror.
“No, no, I wasn’t,” she said with a firm nod.
“Okay,” he said, adjusting his tie as he turned around to give her his undivided attention. “Then what were you going to say?”
“That I should I probably fill in for John until the doctor says that he can come back,” Haley said, once again forced to push her glasses back up her nose so that she could properly glare at her husband.
“How exactly is that different from what I just said?” Jason demanded as he folded his arms over his chest so that he could glare down at her.
“Because I would just be filling in temporarily,” she pointed out, wondering why he was being so difficult about this.
“Not,” he started to say only to pause so that he could lean down and brush his lips against hers, “a chance in hell.”
Nodding, Haley said, “This is why I want a divorce.”
“You might want to give up that dream, my little grasshopper, because it’s never going to happen,” Jason said, chuckling as he walked back into the bedroom, leaving her with no other choice but to follow him.
Sighing heavily, she said, “I just don’t understand why you’re being so difficult about this.”
“Maybe it has something to do with the fact that you’re four months pregnant and your doctor told you that you weren’t allowed to go back to work,” he said with a pointed look at the slight swell of her belly that was barely noticeable in Jason’s oversized Bradford Construction shirt.
“He only said that because you lied,” Haley bit out.
Throwing his hands up with a heavy sigh, he asked, “How exactly did I lie?”
“You told him that you were concerned that I was having problems catching my breath after getting out of bed,” she said evenly as she narrowed her eyes on the large bastard that was responsible for her being forced to go on maternity leave five months early.
“And I was,” Jason said with a helpless shrug.
“You failed to mention that I only had problems catching my breath because of the marathon of sex that you instigated, you manipulative bastard!”
Frowning, Jason asked, “Didn’t I mention that to him?”
“No, you didn’t! You called him when I was in the bathroom and told him that you were concerned about my ability to go back to work after watching me struggle to get out of bed and stumble towards the bathroom while I struggled to catch my breath!”
With a shrug, he said, “No one stopped you from setting him straight.”
“I tried, but you kept yelling, ‘She’s lying! Don’t believe anything she says,’ in the background!” Haley snapped.
“Are you sure?” Jason asked, feigning innocence. “Because that really doesn’t sound like something that I would do.”
Slowly shaking her head, Haley said, “Please don’t make me hurt you.”
“That’s just the pregnancy hormones talking,” Jason said, grabbing his wallet off his bureau and slid it into his back pocket.
“And I’m pretty sure it will be enough to get me acquitted,” she pointed out.
“Probably,” he murmured absently as he grabbed his cellphone and slid it in his pocket before he grabbed his bag as he glanced around their room, ensuring that he wasn’t forgetting anything.
“Are you going to let me fill in?” Haley asked, hoping to use his distraction to her advantage.
“Not a chance in hell,” he said, giving her one last kiss before heading toward the door and–
“I didn’t want to have to do this,” Haley said with a heavy sigh and a sad shake of her head, “but now you’ve left me with no other choice.”
“Aw, what’s my little grasshopper going to do?” Jason asked with a taunting smile, looking deeply amused for a man that had just crossed a line that he would soon come to regret.
“If you don’t let me fill in, you’ll find out,” she warned him.
Chuckling, Jason backed out of the room, shooting her a wink as he said, “I’ll just have to take that chance,” before he left, sealing his fate.
She should feel bad, but…
He’d really hadn’t left her with much of a choice in the matter.
At least, that’s what she was going to tell herself as she made him pay.
I cant wait to find out what Hailey does to make Jason’s pay.
