Let's see......
The newest Pyte book is almost done 🙂
It is not the book that belongs to the excerpt in the back of Without Regret, but the next book in the continuing story.
The next Neighbor From Hell book is halfway done and is currently being checked over to make sure that it’s worthy of the NFH title. Once i get feedback I will set back to work on it 🙂
After reading most of the reviews for my books I thought I should say a few things:
A Humble Heart is in no way meant to be funny so if you’re looking for a fun relaxing book, this isn’t it. This is meant to be a little bit dramatic, a little thrilling and basically a fairy tale for adults, especially women like Dana who may not have chosen well in life and deserve a second chance with the man of her dreams. I wrote this story when I was going through a pretty bad time. I guess you could say it was an unrealistic dream, but something that kept me going. It might not be the “favorite” book out there, but it has a special spot in my heart because of what it did for me. For those of you who are wondering if Edward will find out that he was the influence for Christian……..yes.
The Pyte, Sentinel and Immortal series are not the NFH series. What I mean is that they are not written to be light, funny reads. They have funny parts, but nothing like the NFH series so if you’re looking for an amusing light read these probably aren’t for you. The EMS and the Hollywood Heart Novels starting with A Reclusive Heart and on are probably a better fit for you.
I’ve read a lot of your comments, some flattering and some that had me cringing. I appreciate both and have actually taken a lot of your comments to heart and applied the advice to my new books. That being said, I will say that I can’t unfortunately tailor each book to every single person out there. I just can’t. I’m sorry, but there is no perfect book out there that will please every single person. There’s nothing I can do about that. I’ll continue to do my best to publish enjoyable stories and hope that they manage to make someone smile.
Thanks for listening 🙂
welli loved each and everyone of your books ans can’t wait for more. If we read the same types of books over and over it would get pretty dull, so i for one am glad that your series are all different.
Carry on the good work as you give me something to look forward to after a hectic day with the kids.
I have only read the 2 Pyte books and the 2 NFH books (so far) and I can say without a doubt they are 4 of my all time favorite books!!!! And just so ya know, I’ve read A LOT of books 🙂 I have recommended them to my reader friends as well! I also say keep up the good work! I cant wait for these 2 series’ next books! Ignore the negative people and get back to work! 🙂 I need those books!
I read this post and realized that I needed to put my 2 cents in. I never commented on any other site before because I figured who cared what I thought. However, reading this blog I truly felt I needed to let you know that I have loved each and everyone of the books you have graced us with. I have never been a fan of vampire or paranormal books and was a little disappointed when I realized some of your books were. I have done an absolute 180 and decided that if a writer is brilliant it doesn’t matter what they write about it will be a great story and truly enjoyable. I have absolutely loved every one of your stories and have told as many people I know about the brilliant author who writes amazing stories about everything and publishes them all on her own! You never need to apologize for writing some of the best stories ever written!
Thank you very much 🙂 That means a great deal to me. Thank you.
I can only tell you this… (Because you know what I think of your books ;-))
A Humble Heart is one of my favorite books EVER… I’m not sure why but it got to me and it touched a very special place in my heart… Just so you know it 🙂
I totally agree! A Humble Heart was the last of your books that I read and I can honestly say it was one of my favourites. I loved the way you wrote about the characters and the journey you went through with Dana was so touching. Those kids were so adorable; little Cole made me laugh many a time.
I wanted to let you know how close I hold these books to my heart and what a brilliant job you do with them. I’m just counting down the days until we finally get some more 😀
The glimpse into the worlds you create
should be just that; a world you have
created.Create for your joy, happiness,
and entertainment.If it satisfies you,
it will truly satisfy those it was meant
for.One fan wrote that you changed
their undoubtedly ‘unfounded’ (ha, ha)
dislike of vampire stories, for me it was the
opposite; I have never gone the
strait and narrow, that is… until your books.
Those readers out there who think
a drama/romance, or a paranormal’s
not quite your speed, need to give it a
try.I always put off reading, and reviewing
those books I don’t feel compatible with,
but now I think I will give the books a
more open mind, and my reviews:
a more thoughtful statement,
for I realize now that there
are other genre that, with the right author,
can stimulate my mind, and heart.
Keep writing, listening to those around you,
but in the end, do your own thing
for in that…you work is wonderful!
Thank you very much, Kimberly 🙂
I love this post. Very honest and my kinda thing. Thank you for sharing your thoughts Ms. Mathewson. 🙂
I just started Tall, Dark and Lonely last night and plan on finishing today and I have to say that I am extremely anxious to download all the books I can find written by you. I found it extremely difficult to sit through a briefing that I had to attend today when all I could think about was getting back to your book. It was also very difficult to keep the smile from my face as I was sitting in my truck in the parking lot at work during lunch trying to hide my excitement from people walking by. Based on all the reviews I am reading from your other books I know that I am going to have a lot to read in the next couple weeks. 🙂
Katie, I hope you had a chance to eat lunch, lol. I hope you enjoy the other books as well 🙂
Just finished Without Regret yesterday and started A Humble Heart this morning. Every time I start a new book I try to remind myself to read it slower so that I can enjoy the story longer, then two days later I am done and on to the next one. I said that I would have a lot of reading to do in the next couple weeks, now I’m starting to think that I will be done with all of them in the next few days. And no I didn’t get to eat lunch, lol, but it was definitely worth it.
I just read your response to Ameka’s post and was wondering the same thing. Is the second Pyte book picking up where Without Regret left off? Are they just called the Pyte and Sentinal series because they are focusing on those character’s stories? I guess it doesn’t really matter. I’m going to read them all anyway, just really anxious to read more about Ephraim, Chris and now Joshua…
Lol, sorry about lunch. Yes, that’s why they have their own series, but for the most part the two will work into the same storyline. Now and then the books will have nothing to do with this storyline.
I have just finished reading your books and absolutely love them. Could you please tell me the title of the book extract that’s at the end of Without Regret, thank-you.
Hi, Danielle,
That would be the third Pyte book. That one is not out yet, but will be by the end of the year. Another Pyte book is on its way soon to continue the storyline 🙂
I love your pyte series. Read all three and have been religiously checking for another this past year. .. hope you continue as I enjoy your characters and would like to know what happens next. Keep on writing! 🙂
Ok first off I’m really loving the books but having a hard time finding out the order of them. What book is at the back of “without regret”? I can’t find the title anywhere. And the neighbor from hell books, is “playing for keeps” the first novel? If you could show me where to go to get the order that would be devine. Love reading them and I love that they are affordable on ebooks. And what is going to be the name of the new Pyte novel so I can be on the lookout for it! Thanks!
Ameka,
Tall, Dark & Lonely if followed by Without Regret and the next Pyte novel (2) which is almost done picks up the story. The Pyte story in the back of WR is the third Pyte and will be the next one out I release. So, right now it’s just Pyte 1 and Sentinel 1 out now. Pyte 2 is coming out soon, but the excerpt you saw is for Pyte 3. Playing for Keeps is the first in the NFH series. Perfection is next and I am almost done with the third 🙂
No title yet, sorry. Working on it 🙂
Hi, I’ve just finished your NFH books in 2 days and am now a fan. I’m not an avid reader and tend to have books that sit next to my bed for ages. Now that I have been looking for books for my iPod, I am so thrilled I came across your’s 🙂 I’m a busy mom and value my sleep but once I started a book the other day, I couldn’t stop reading including my lunch hour usually reserved for errands LOL. My husband kept looking at me funny every time I cracked up at Jason or Trevor.
Cheers, Lindsay
PS as a New Englander stuck in the middle between Red Sox nation and Yankee territory, I love your commentary LOL
I just thought that I should tell you this: A Humble Heart really is one of the most amazing books that I have ever read. Each character was well rounded and the plot was extraordinary; where I could usually predict what the author is going to be talking about later on in the book, for the most part you kept me on my toes and I loved it! It’s the sixth book of yours that I’ve read so far and it ties all your other books together so well (except for A Reclusive Heart because I haven’t read it yet :D) Keep writing because you love it and if you do you’ll keep on inspiring me and all your other fans with your work. Thank you for taking a chance and putting yourself out there; it takes a lot of courage to do what you do and I’m so thankful for that bravery 🙂
Thank you very much, Mariam, for your kind words 🙂 I’m glad you enjoyed A Humble Heart 🙂
-R.L.
I have just found your books via Amazon and have to say I’ve loved them. I’ve read the Sentinel / Pyte, NFH and just finished EMS.
I love the humour and you write your male characters very well! Its nice to have a book that also doesn’t treat the reader like a kid – swearing ahoy!
Can’t wait for the follow ups!
I started reading your books last week and have not been able to put them down! Ive already completely read the neighbor from hell series and the pyte/sentiniel series and can’t wait to start my next book. I am a hug fan of romance novels but often find myself guessing what will happen next. When reading your books this is not the case. I love the fact that I am kept on my toes until the end of the book and can’t put it down. I have told all of my co-workers about the series and they are now reading them (: keep up the good work!
R.L.! I loved the Neighbor From Hell series and just finished the Hollywood Hearts books 1 and 2! Loved Nick and Jamie and her little chocolate obsession! Hehe. Hopefully #3 will come out soon! I’m dying to know if DeAnna and Amy got their own stories. Congrats on your success! You’re one hell of a writer.
I have read all the books that you have wrote. I truly love your stories and I can’t wait to read the pyte and sentinel series. I know that you are pretty busy but could you please hurry up with another book. LOl.
You are truly one of my fav authors and a great writer.

Ok. So, here’s where I’m at with this. I love a good book. For more than 20 years I have read every genre imaginable. From the classics to the smut, I’ve read it all. Last year my family held an “intervention” so to speak, and my daughter gifted me with an e-reader, all in the hopes that I would de-hoard some books. Bibliophilic snob that I am, I was reluctant to jump on the e-book bandwagon. Finally I caved, and spent the last 12 months devouring everything I could get my hands on. The e-reader opened a whole new world for me and introduced me to new authors that I doubt I ever would have discovered in the bookstores, second-hand shops, and libraries. I was on a quick fix, looking for something new when I came across “Playing for Keeps”. I’m hooked. I looked at the price tag and thought “What the Hell?” I can’t remember the last time I read something that made me laugh so much. I immediately downloaded the rest of your novels, and you’ve exceeded my expectations in everyway. They bring me much joy, and I’m grateful that you shared them with us. So a giant thank-you to you!
Wow, I just finished “Tall, dark, and heartless”,all I can say is WOW!! I have read all of your books and know I have to wait for the next master piece!!!! Oh please hurry!!! I am in love with all of them but most of all love the NFH they are too funny, I was laughing so much that I was crying!! But the Pyte series was soo heart worming I just loved them all, can’t wait for #4 to come out 🙂 keep up the great work 🙂
Hi!
Thank you for your honesty. I agree, you should not write to please all your readers and I know deep inside you try because your writing says exactly that. I enjoyed each and every one of your books, some I own, others I borrowed but I love reading each one of them for its unique way and purpose. As a fan, I expect you to just write and never stop and keep telling me more about each character. We know each story needs an ending, so is not possible. :) More stories help me survive the addiction of reading your stories. As a reader, I just want the best out of the author and in this case you have given me your best and I thank you because I’m always looking forward to your next book. As an addict to your books, my husband says I’m having an affair with your books and I need to get in book reading rehab.
Please keep doing just what you are doing, your fans me included enjoy it. :)
Thanks
JC
These books are great! Don’t change a thing, just keep writing please! I love this series and can not get enough of it! You can not tailor books to all, nor please all. People search out the author that fits their taste best. Keep up the good work! Thanks, God Bless!
I have read your Neighbor from hell series and your Pyte Sentinel series, I enjoy your writing style.. Do you have plans to broaden the story of poor Joshua the basement dweller, and the shifterless Kale and of course lonely Logan? I had hoped that the third story was going to release these three from their own private hells but alas it was not meant to be. Please consider this plea to release one from their purgatory so I can sleep at night. That is all, keep up the creative work.
I absolutely love the Hollywood Hearts Novels and I really wish you would write another one. They are two of my favorite novels and I have read them several times over and I will continue to read them a bunch of more times. I feel like I blend well in their worlds because I am a lot like those two ladies. Thanks for giving me a world that I could immerse myself in:-)
I absolutely loved the Hollywood Hearts books!!! I have read them both over and over again and I am so looking forward to when you get the chance to write another one:-) I will definitely be the first to purchase!!!!
