Chapter 13: The Naughtier Chronicles

The Naughtier Chronicles

Part 13

An R.L. Mathewson Chronicle

(Previous Chronicles In Case You Missed One)

“Please don’t do this to me!” Jason said, struggling to release his seatbelt, but his trembling hands wouldn’t fucking cooperate.

“I’ll just be a few minutes,” Haley said with a teasing smile, clearly not understanding the gravity of the situation.

“That’s all I need,” Jason said, giving up on trying to get his seatbelt to release and settled for reaching over to stop her from leaving him.

With a playful roll of her eyes and a sad shake of her head like he was kidding, he wasn’t, she climbed out of the car and out of his reach as he struggled to stop her. “They’ll call,” Jason reminded her, trying not to panic as his gaze flickered to the clock on the dashboard, noting that they’d already been gone for twenty minutes, which meant that they’d wasted twenty precious minutes that they could have used to squeeze in all those incredibly naughty things that he needed to do to her, or he was pretty sure that he was going to die.

They were quickly approaching the thirty-minute mark, which meant that it was only a matter of time before they received a call from one of the kids, a neighbor, the police, or some innocent bystander that got in the way and put an end to their first night out in months and he couldn’t risk it. He needed her, but every time he touched her all hell broke loose and he was forced to let her go and he honestly wasn’t sure how much more of this he could take. He loved his family, adored his children, but they were driving him out of his fucking mind.

“I’ll be right back,” Haley promised him with a warm smile as she quickly closed her door and headed into the convenience store while Jason sat there, forced to watch her go as he reached down and absently adjusted the painful erection that really wanted to spend some quality time with his wife.

For several minutes, he simply sat there, sending hopeful looks at the convenience store and-

“Don’t fucking do this to me,” Jason said hollowly as he closed his eyes in resignation and grabbed his phone off the dashboard and answered it. “What happened?”

“Miss me?” came the amused greeting that had Jason opening his eyes to glare.

“You don’t want to do this,” Jason told his father, “Not tonight.”

“Do what?” his father asked only to follow that up with a long-suffering sigh. “Can’t a father call his son to say hello?”

“I will kill you,” Jason bit out as his gaze flickered back to the store to find Haley standing in line.

“Because I missed you?”

“I know what you’re doing,” Jason bit out, vowing then and there to make his father pay for this.

“You know what I was thinking about?” his father said, sighing as though he was settling in for a long talk.

“No, and I don’t care,” Jason snapped, glancing back at his wife to find her still standing in line.

“Do you remember that time when you were fourteen and you broke your arm so you couldn’t play football all summer?” his father asked, sounding bored.

Reaching up to pinch the bridge of his nose, Jason said, “Don’t do this to me, Dad. Not tonight.”

“It was so many years ago, but do you know what I remember most about that summer?” his father asked, clearly enjoying this.

“I’m hanging up,” Jason said, moving to do just that when his father’s next words stopped him.

“Do you remember what I promised you that summer, Jason?”

“What are you talking about?” Jason asked, unable to help but frown as he thought back to that summer as he tried to figure out what the hell his father was talking about.

He remembered breaking his arm in a game of touch football that he’d played with a few cousins on their roof, the trip to the emergency room, and being bored out of his fucking mind since he hadn’t been allowed to play football, trying to come up with ways to pass the time, and deciding to-

“Oh, shit…” Jason muttered, remembering all the fucked-up things that he did that summer to entertain himself and the promise that his father made him when he’d realized what Jason had been up to.

“You do remember,” his father murmured in approval as Jason shifted his gaze from his wife to the empty parking lot that they were parked in and-

Found himself staring at his father, who looked happier than he’d ever seen him before, and really wished that he’d found a better way to pass the time when he was fourteen instead of cockblocking his father.
