Daddy's Girl Part VI
Dear Reader,
With Dorian coming this way I am trying to catch up and get a few things done before we lose electricity. My goal had been an October 25th release for Devastated. I am still going to try to get that done. I’ve charged my laptop so that I should be able to get some writing done after I lose electricity. I’m hoping to meet my goal so that I can finally let Devastated go after seven years and move on to Tall, Dark & Furious. I should be good unless we have to evacuate.
That being said, I may not be able to get up a Chronicle if I lose power. Last time it was almost three weeks before we got our power back. I will do my best to keep everyone updated through Twitter and Facebook.
Just a quick note, if you haven’t signed up for the newsletter now is the perfect time. Daddy’s Little Girl
Part VI
An R.L. Mathewson Chronicle
“Hold up.”
“Just please leave me alone,” Elizabeth mumbled sadly as she hugged the grocery bag filled with the one thing that let him know just how bad this was tightly against her chest as she headed towards the old park bench by the kiddie playground.
“Can’t do that,” Cole said, quickly catching up with his little sister.
“I don’t feel like talking about it,” she said as she sat down.
“That’s fine,” Cole said, joining her.
“I’m serious, Cole,” she said, looking sadder than he’d ever seen her.
“I know you are,” Cole said, leaning back with a sigh as he glanced towards the group of kids watching them by the baseball field.
“Then why are you here?”
“The bag,” he said with a pointed look at the bag.
“It’s nothing,” she said, shrugging it off even as she hugged the bag more tightly against her chest.
“Really?” Cole asked, reaching over and pulled the bag open to reveal the large selection of gumdrops that she only bought when she was upset about something.
“They’re not mine,” Elizabeth said as she quickly closed the bag and returned to staring down at her feet.
“Are you going to tell me the rest of the story?” he asked as he debated waiting for her to tell him or take a walk over to the baseball field and finish what Mikey started.
Speaking of Mikey…
“We talked about this,” Sebastian bit out as he struggled to stop Mikey only to give up with a sigh and tackle her to the ground.
“We talked about nothing!” Mikey bit out, struggling to crawl free.
“You already know,” Elizabeth mumbled sadly.
“I’d like to hear it from you,” he said, as he reached over and gave a strand of long curly brown hair a playful tug.
“Let me go!” Mikey snapped as Sebastian finally managed to pick her up and-
“Where were we?” their father asked conversationally as he plucked Mikey off the ground and threw her over his shoulder.
“D-don’t make me hurt you, Uncle Jason,” Mikey choked out.
“Please stop, you’re scaring me,” Jason said dryly, adjusting the load over his shoulder as he hunched down in front of Elizabeth.
“You ready to tell me what happened, baby girl?” their father asked with that soft smile that was reserved solely for her.
“Nothing happened,” Elizabeth mumbled around a sniffle.
“I see,” their father murmured with a pointed look at the bag in her arms.
“I’ll tell you if you let me go,” Mikey said sweetly.
“You’re not going to tell me?” Jason asked Elizabeth only to sigh heavily as he stood up and tossed Mikey back to Sebastian with a, “Start talking.”
“That boy who I wasn’t done discussing the matter with earlier had been texting Elizabeth all summer and this morning he told her that he liked her only he doesn’t. He did it on a dare from those boys over there that I’d really like to go have a word with,” Mikey said, filling in the blanks for him as she pointed in the direction of the baseball fields.
“I see,” their father murmured thoughtfully while Cole shared a look with Sebastian.
“Here,” Sebastian said absently as he tossed Mikey back to Jason and headed towards the baseball fields.
“Wait!” Mikey said as Cole stood up and decided that a stroll around the baseball field sounded lovely this time of day.

I love the Bradford children as much as I love the Bradford Mem❤️
I am enjoying this story, as I do all of your writing. No ‘but’ here. Remember that you and your crew being ok is much, much more important to all of your readers than Chronicles or release dates. Take care of you.
Love this one, Stay safe.
Holding out for the next installment. Smiling so big it hurts…the dog is looking a little expectant.
